VOCAL TRAINING
My unwavering dedication and transformative leadership, I hope, have made an indelible mark on the world of choral music on both the institutional and individual levels. On which of these levels can I help you? More below...
MASTER TEACHING
INDIVIDUAL VOICE | CONDUCTING | YOUNG PROFESSIONALS
“It's such a pleasure to have [Deborah] work with our groups! [The students and their directors] always leave so much more inspired! Until next time...”
—Lori Dugokenski, Hollon Tour Consultant
From individualized training in technical proficiency and interpretive insight, to large-group workshop and festival leadership, empowering success and inspiring passion for a lifetime of engagement in the arts is the foundation of my teaching. Among the services I offer are:
Private instruction in singing
Private instruction in conducting
Workshops and choral clinics
Festival Guest Conducting
“Deborah is an incredibly supportive and longtime mentor-turned-friend. Not only did studying with her prepare me technically for competitive graduate conducting programs, it allowed me to explore my own unique voice as an artist. Her mentorship gave me the confidence I needed to trust my own vision, and the tools required to step on the podium and bring it to life.”
—Ryan LaBoy, Artistic Director of Berkshire Children’s Chorus and Berkshire Concert Choir
PROGRAM BUILDING
PROFESSIONAL | ACADEMIC | LITURGICAL
Central to my conducting work is building and cultivating of a culture of excellence, attention to detail, collaboration, and artistic innovation.
This focus has manifested in the semi-professional Ember Choral Arts, which, as mentioned elsewhere on this site, I founded and which has been internationally acclaimed for its versatility and dedication to new music. I also frequently collaborate with the American Modern Ensemble, the New Jersey Symphony, and, of late, musician extraordinaire Chloe Flower.
As a faculty member at the Manhattan School of Music, I impart my wealth of knowledge and passion for choral music to aspiring musicians, shaping the next generation of choral leaders.
In liturgical settings, my profound understanding of sacred music and ability to connect with diverse congregations elevate worship experiences, fostering spiritual growth and community engagement.
